The following recommendations apply to the deployment of the Endless Key app for Chromebooks:
Chromebooks distributed within a school environment are typically configured to only allow the installation of pre-approved apps from the Google Play Store. This means that by default, students may be unable to find the Endless Key app when searching for it, and thus will be unable to install and use it.
In order for students to find, install and use the app, a system administrator must first use the Google Admin interface to mark Endless Key as an allowed app.
This procedure must be performed by a member of your school's or district's IT team with access to the Google Admin Console.
You can observe these steps in the following video:
The gist is that Endless Key does not require a user account and does not collect personal data. Endless OS Foundation is a grant-funded non-profit, and we provide Endless Key as a free resource to reach as many learners as possible.
Endless Key is usable entirely offline, as the selected content is installed to the user's device upon first run. All available content has been provided by educators and other respected partners curated by Endless OS Foundation. There is no online interaction with other users and no advertising in Endless Key.
