This page documents Endless OS's support for multimedia formats and platforms.
You can listen to songs stored locally on your hard drive with the Rhythmbox app (previously known as Music), which is often preinstalled as part of our Endless OS installation and located on your desktop. Common music file formats are supported including MP3, AAC, Vorbis and WAV. Click on the icon once to open it. It will automatically add music found within the Music folder under your user's home directory.
You can also add music from other places and stream music from internet radio stations. Consult the Help documentation included in Rhythmbox for further guidance.
There are many other music players available in the App Center. You may wish to check out GNOME Music.
The Videos app is usually part of your base Endless OS installation and has good support for the following free video formats:
Depending on how you obtained Endless OS, your installation may also include out-of-the-box support for AVC (H.264) videos. To further increase compatibility with non-free formats, go online and install all available updates from the App Center. The updates offered for a new installation of Endless OS will include Codecs packs.
Netflix and YouTube are expected to work in Chromium (the default web browser) and Google Chrome (available in the App Center).
The Spotify music streaming app is available in the App Center.
