Your laptop may come with an old version of the Operating System. Please go online and perform a system update before you proceed.
Yes! We are not a typical lesson plan coding lesson platform. Our product is a safe environment that encourages kids to tinker and explore. There are, in fact, 5 pathways - art, maker, games, operation system and web.
Yes! The Hack computer features the Endless OS which is a Linux based system which integrates more than 100 apps for working, studying or playing games. It is easy to use and does not require internet to have access to the integrated encyclopedia.
It is possible to install Windows, however doing so will replace the preinstalled Endless OS & Hack software, so we do not recommend doing so.
Although we do not have any Hack branded cases or protectors, the laptop provided is an Asus machine, and has a 14” screen. There are numerous 3rd party screen and keyboard protectors available that will fit this model.
The Hack Laptop comes with an App Center that includes more than 150 applications. You will find games and learning apps, you can even play Minecraft in your Hack Computer. Our inventory is updated frequently, so check it often for the latest apps.
The Hack Laptop comes pre-configured to install additional apps provided by Endless, external and 3rd party developers using the Flathub project. Flathub uses the Flatpak app distribution system to run apps safely and securely on a number of different Linux systems. Any developer can add their application to Flathub and have it show up in the Endless App Center.
