Hack is no longer fully supported do to changes to the desktop of Endless OS and the upstream GNOME Shell since Endless OS 5.1. Some features may no longer work correctly.
Instead, Endless OS now includes a curated selection of the best tools for creating your own games, such as GDevelop, Pixelorama, Godot, and more.
Hack was a platform for learning coding and creativity skills, primarily aimed at teenagers and students. Hack was included in earlier versions of Endless OS (prior to 5.1) and it was also possible to install it on other operating systems.
Hack was designed to cultivate digital literacy to empower the next generation with creative problem-solving skills that can be universally applied. Success for us included more than just equipping kids with some key skills; rather, we aimed to provide a dynamic foundation for the next generation of thinkers. As players progressed through Hack, they cultivated their curiosity about how the world works.
The Hack experience was centered around the Clubhouse, where 5 pathways were featured. Each pathway was represented by one of the characters that would guide you through a special topic they are passionate about.
An Internet connection was required for some, but not all, of the topics included in these pathways.
