A variety of Endless OS installation and deployment procedures require you to flash an image, which refers to the process of taking an image file that you have downloaded and writing it to a storage device. Amongst other cases, image flashing is needed for:
If you are tasked with flashing an Endless image under Windows, can use a third party app called Rufus to perform this. However, in some situations Rufus may not offer the possibility of flashing your SD card.
For USB disk flashing of certain Endless OS images, our Endless Installer for Windows offers a more user-friendly experience.
Connect the USB stick to the computer, run the Rufus program and select the three options, as shown in the image below. Then click on the drive icon of the "Create bootable disk using" option.
When clicking this option, a window will open to select the image already downloaded. Select the image and click open
Verify that the information is in accordance with the example below. Note that Device
will display the information on your USB stick. Click Start.
Click Ok in the window to proceed with the system recording on the USB Stick.
The writing process will begin, and at the end you will see the message "Ready".
Click Close and remove your USB stick.
